Hey! Looking to get a degree in mathematics for pure intellectual enjoyment. I am not looking to change careers, I already have a Bachelor's degree and it is truly for non-utilitarian reasons. I do want, however, to be able to do a graduate program later on. The problem is few universities in the US offer second bachelor's, and many post-baccs or master programs have some requirements (I had calculus 1 many years ago, but nothing more).
My question then is two-fold:
- Do you know of any programs that would accept someone from a non-math background, even if I'm required to take some catch-up courses?
- Would self-studying + GRE Math suffice for "proving" that I have the necessary background? If that's the case, should I aim for a MSc or PhD (since (1) it's usually tuition free, (2) MScs are usually awarded during the PhD).
PS: I know just self-studying is an option and totally valid, but I figured I might as well get a degree out of it, especially because I do want the option to later on do a master's or PhD
