Hi guys I see a lot of people with similar problems so i figured I’d vent a little. I started doing finance in community college and eventually after taking and doing very well in a linear algebra class my sophomore year decided to minor in math. I then took a “gap semester”(well if you count taking one class and trying to get sober off heroin(which I attribute to my success in linear algebra sadly enough) and waited until I got my university acceptance letter in which I did. “My junior year”(idk what year I am at this point technically on a credit level) after a mind dulling semester of finance which I hated and only pursued to please my parents I reached a compromise with them and decided to major in math and minor in finance. I’ve had to retake calc 3(on the account that my professor is shit and 60% pf my class failed with me I’m not one to point fingers I own up but anyways) I’m currently a senior taking calc 3 I’ve taken a 3000 level class in my 2nd semester of junior year and did fairly well(B+) now I’m in my 4th year taking calc 3 and transition to advanced math and struggling in advanced math and may have to take another two semesters(maybe 3) and feel immense shame. I feel so lost and terrible at math and I look at everybody in my classes and feel like such a wreck. I’m not a dumbass but somehow someway I can’t do anything right. I know I’ll pass calc 3 this semester given this professor and I know I have it in me to maybe get through transition to advanced math(although there’s a fair chance I could drop it but I’m not giving up yet). The checked classes are the ones I have yet to take and all I feel is shame coursing through my body. It’s too late to jump ship anywhere(if there even is anywhere to jump ship). Seeing senior sequences and knowing that I’m only half way there is so discouraging and idk if I can take all those complex courses at once.
