I’m in high school right now, and I want to pursue mathematics. I imagine my relationship with my professors involving thought-provoking discussions, whether about mathematics, philosophy, or whatever else comes up (like during a random office hour).
For context, I’m planning to study in the US or France. What was your experience like? Am I romanticizing the experience? Is it actually more formal than this? I can also imagine coming across boring or annoying lecturers, of course.
